What day 1 looks like

The fog.

Days 1 to 3 · BBL

Anesthesia clears slowly, swelling peaks, and most patients feel deeply fatigued. Pain is typically moderate and well-managed with prescribed medication. You will be moving only short distances — bathroom, meals, brief walks — while sleeping face-down or on your side on a dedicated BBL pillow. Drainage from liposuction sites is common and expected.

Book your recovery

Day 1 is easier in a suite that is already set up for it.

Our private suite package (8 nights) covers this exact window with 24/7 monitoring, lymphatic drainage on the right cadence, and surgeon coordination built in.

A gentle reminder

At any day of recovery, these are worth paying attention to.

  • Shortness of breath or sudden chest pain. Can indicate a pulmonary embolism, which is the most serious known risk of BBL surgery. Treat this as an emergency — call 911 before calling anyone else.
  • Fever above 101 F (38.3 C). A low-grade fever in the first 24 to 48 hours can be normal. Sustained or rising fever is not. Contact your surgeon the same day.
  • Calf pain, redness, or swelling in one leg. Possible deep vein thrombosis. Do not massage the area. Call your surgeon and seek urgent evaluation.
